Unblock The Pipe

Before the pipe can be relined, it needs to be unblocked. Our Service Today technicians use a high-pressure water jetter to remove any foreign matter blocking the damaged pipe.

Inspect The Pipe

Service Today uses the latest CCTV drain camera technology to inspect your pipes. We'll locate and mark the damaged section, allowing us to accurately position and insert the new lining.

Insert The New Lining

A liner filled with epoxy resin is inserted and positioned inside the damaged section of the pipe. Using compressed air, the liner conforms to the inside of the pipe until the resin is cured. The inflation device is then removed, leaving a new section of pipe adhering to the existing pipe.

The Reline Is Complete!

Between two and four hours later, the relining process is complete. This occurs as the patch finishes curing inside the pipes, forming a new pipe within the old damaged section.

I have a burst pipe and water is going everywhere. What can I do whilst I wait for my Service Today plumber to arrive?

If you have a burst or leaking pipe, the first thing to do is turn off the water at its source or the main water supply, which is usually located just inside the property boundary. In an apartment, this may be below the laundry or kitchen sink. This will stop or at least reduce the water flow before the technician arrives.

Toilets can be turned off via the tap located near the cistern, or sometimes inside the cistern itself. Sinks and basins may also have a shut-off valve located under the sink.

Leaks can be a major reason for increased water bills. Service Today can assist with any water or pipe leak detection, but you can also perform a simple test yourself to check for leaks in your home.

 

**Note:** This test should be conducted over a 30-minute period during which no water is being used on the property.

 

  1. Find your water meter, usually located in front of the home in a covered box near the street.
  2. Write down the numbers indicated on the meter at the start of this test.
  3. After 30 minutes, return to check the meter reading.

 

– If the numbers have not changed, you likely do not have a leak in your pressurized water system.

– Shut off the valves under all toilets in the house and repeat steps 1-3.

– If the numbers have not changed, it seems that your pipe and toilet systems do not have a leak.

– If the numbers have changed, this indicates water consumption, even though no water was used during the test. In this case, it is highly recommended that you call Service Today to arrange a professional leak detection on your property.

Since gas is a highly flammable substance, gas leaks need to be treated with urgency. If you suspect a gas leak, follow these steps:

 

  1. Locate your gas meter, usually found at the front of your property. Turn the yellow handle 90 degrees so that it sits perpendicular to the gas pipe. This will shut off the gas supply to your home.
  2. Call Service Today immediately to book a technician for an urgent inspection of your property.

It could be several things, but it’s possible that you have a water leak. Your best option is to arrange for a Service Today representative to carry out leak detection on your property, as the cause of the mark could be one of several things.

It appears you may be experiencing ‘water hammer’. Water hammer is caused by vibrations in pipes that are not properly secured. This can often be fixed with arrestors. Give Service Today a call and have one of our expert technicians inspect your piping to determine the cause of the noise.
